“The primary task of the Church and of the Christian minister is the preaching of the Word of God.”
― Preaching and Preachers
The church needed to hear this message long ago and today we need to hear it again. In every age mankind has turned away from the truth of Jesus Christ and that certainly remains true today. But this epistle was for the church, for those who had been set apart, faithful brothers and sisters. It was these who were in danger of compromising the truth of the gospel. And this epistle is, then, for us as well, at Sovereign Grace Church in Bellbrook Ohio. We need to be aware of the dangers around us and potentially even in our own thinking of compromising the truth of the gospel. We cannot compromise the truth that our hope for each and every second of this life and the life to come is by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone! The antidote to the confusion that is in our world and many churches and homes is the truth of the glory and supremacy of Christ.
May all of us, as we walk through this very rich portion of scripture, grow in our knowledge of, confidence in, and love for Jesus Christ. May we mine the depths of the glory of Christ so that we would be a people who are increasingly at rest, living and breathing for the glory of God, experiencing present joy as we feast at the banqueting table that is the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ every single day.
