OUR PASTORS
Our pastors (or elders) serve as under-shepherds of Christ. They imperfectly serve as examples to the body and have been entrusted with teaching sound doctrine, caring for the spiritual well-being of our church, guarding against false doctrine, equipping the church for ministry, raising up future leadership, and governing the affairs of the church.
Steve Bice
Steve gave his life to Christ in 1984. A year later, at the age of 16, he met his wife, Joy, on what would be the first of many overseas mission trips. He had a sense that global missions would be what the Lord had for him and after getting married at the ripe age of 20 (1989), Steve and Joy served with Teen Missions International. Through the Lord's providence, Steve entered pastoral ministry in 1993 and served for just under two decades in two churches in Iowa and Minnesota. He had the privilege of attending and graduating from the Sovereign Grace Pastors College in Louisville, KY in 2013. After a brief internship, Steve was sent out from Sovereign Grace Church Louisville to lead and care for SGC Dayton as the Lead Pastor in March, 2014. Steve and Joy enjoy all the time they get together with their three kids married and starting their own families. They love having four grandchildren to watch grow up from a distance (and spend as much time as they can with them). Steve continues to enjoy all sports (but is especially fond of hockey being a good Canadian), good food and drink, a movie with popcorn, and just enjoys spending time with people.
Cale Benefield
Cale along with his bride, Jackie, were born and raised in Southern Maryland and met in sixth grade. Cale studied at Boyce College and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY (B.A. Biblical & Theological Studies and M. Div.) where he was introduced to Sovereign Grace Churches in 2014. Sovereign Grace Church Dayton became his church home after marrying and moving to the area as Jackie finished her schooling at Cedarville University. After a year of serving as an intern, SGCD sent them to the Sovereign Grace Pastors College. Following that training, Cale returned to serve full-time at SGCD in 2019. Cale thoroughly enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Apart from that, you may find him watching, playing, or wishing he was playing basketball. Cale can’t stand coffee but happily drinks copious amounts of sweet tea.
Dan Sundersingh
Dan was born in India and moved to Ohio in 1998 with his family. He graduated from Wright State University with his B.S. and M.S in Electrical Engineering while playing college tennis for the Raiders. He has been attending Sovereign Grace Church Dayton since the church was planted in 2011 and has loved being a part of the community ever since. Dan serves as a bi-vocational pastor while working full time as an electrical engineer. He received his M.A. in Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary and has been serving as a pastor since 2019. Dan enjoys conversations about theology, politics, sports, and life over coffee. He also enjoys playing sports, hiking, traveling, and meeting new people. But most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jensey, and his two daughters.
OUR DEACONS
Our deacons serve the church body by meeting tangible needs and mobilizing and delopying servents for ministry; thus enabling the pastors to prioritize their time to teach the Word of God and devote themselves to prayer. Our deacons have been given by the Lord Jesus as a gift to our church to enable a greater care for the members of the church and promote church unity.
