One Anothers: The Christ-Shaped Commands of Scripture
In an age of the twin poles of isolation and self-promotion, Jesus Christ who bought us presents a radically unique way of living together which is loving one another as he loved us. This love is shaped like sacrifice. It is shaped like humble words, bold actions, and deep commitment. It comes out as forgiveness, teaching, admonition, confession, and bearing burdens. Jesus' commands concerning how Christians treat one another, especially in the church, is a witness to whether or not we love Jesus Christ by taking his word seriously ("If you love me, you will keep my commandments." John 14:15). As we give attention to what he has called us to through these commands, we will experience his grace in a community that has been shaped into his likeness and who builds itself up in love.
